When the viewer enters the dark room, all they see is a single, vintage-style condenser microphone in the spotlight. All they hear is the ambient sounds of a milling crowd. After stepping in front of the live mic, they are engulfed by the roar of cheering and thunderous applause. This simulated stardom persists until they step out of the spotlight.

Excerpt from proposal:
“In this subversion of viewer and spectacle, we will literalize the notion that celebrity is activated by presence…
We will play with the complexities of desire and fantasy, and pit them against self-conscious insecurity.”
