Kohler Arts/Industry Residency in 2018

November 1, 2017

The John Michael Kohler Arts Center has announced the selection of 17 artists to participate in its prestigious Arts/Industry program during 2018.

Artists-in- residence for 2018 include Gina Adams (CO), Andrea Chung (CA), Martha Clippinger (NC), Lauren DiCioccio (CA), Yuni Kim Lang (MI), Nicholas Lowe (IL), Jaydan Moore (VA), Rebecca Morgan (PA), Joel Otterson (CA), Will Pergl (WI), Risa Puno (NY), Kenya (Robinson) (NY), Soo Shin (IL), Shinji Turner-Yamamoto (OH), Tomas Vu (NY), Fo Wilson (IL), and Christy Wittmer (AZ).

Now in its 45th year, Arts/Industry is a residency program of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan, WI. It is made possible by major support from Kohler Co. Artists-in- residence receive travel, housing, a stipend, featured exhibitions at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, and 24/7 access to the Kohler Co. Foundry and Pottery facilities in Kohler, WI.

Artists-in- residence work in studios in the Pottery and/or Foundry at the Kohler Co. factory. Artists need not have experience with clay or metal, just an interest in materials and the potential for the industrial environment and processes to influence their creative practice. Residencies typically last from two to four months. Upon completion of their residencies, artists are required to donate two pieces of their work, one for Kohler Co. and one for the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.

I will be working in the Foundry and learning to cast iron from May 7 - July 27, 2018.
